Question by arch_uriel: Why would a society value violence over sex?
I am curious as to why we Americans value violence over sexuality. Our television, films, and other media are awash in violent images, but you even hint of sex and the censor scissors come out. If you look at the ratings system for film, you can find pleanty of violent films at PG-13 and below, but if they even flash a breast or man buttocks and suddenly we're at R.
While I think the one answer I have here has something to it, I am definitley curious as to other people's takes on it.

Because the christians run things and if they were to de-value violence then they would invalidate most of their beliefs. Sex is something they can get rid of without losing what is most important to them - killing anyone not christian.
